QBE Philippines Won The "Best Corporate Governance" Award
- awarded by PIRA (Philippine Insurers and Reinsurers Association)

The Best in Corporate Governance award gives recognition to companies that unequivocally displays the processes and structure by which the business and affairs of the company are directed and managed, in order to enhance long term shareholder value through enhancing corporate performance and accountability, while taking into account the interests of other stakeholders.

Winning Criteria included:

  • Serves the better interest of corporate owners, including return on capital
  • Enhances the benefits to the workers of the company
  • Facilitates improvement of services for the corporate customers
  • Ensures the observance of terms and conditions imposed by creditors
  • Optimizes the benefits for the community and the general public as the national economic order is promoted
  • Provides due observance of sustainable development and the protection of the environment
This year, assisting PIRA on the search for winners was a survey conducted by the Institute of Corporate Directors (ICD) among the non-life insurance companies. The top 10 companies that emerged in the survey were declared winners.

QBE Won The Best Asia-Pacific Primary Insurance Company Award
 

Reactions Global Awards 2010 - The world’s best insurers, reinsurers, brokers, service providers and individuals were revealed in front of a packed crowd at the Reactions Global Awards Dinner 2010 at the Wall Street Cipriani in New York.

For the “Best Asia-Pacific Primary Insurance Company Award”, QBE emerged as the Winner for this category.  Nominees included for this award were Chartis and Tokio Marine.

The awards were the result of the Reactions editorial team canvassing the market through informal interviews with underwriting executives, broking executives, equity analysts and other industry observers and then making editorial choices on which companies and people were the most deserving recipients this year.

QBE Offers Online Travel Insurance to Cathay Pacific and Dragonair Passengers

(8 Feb 2010 - Hong Kong) QBE Hongkong & Shanghai Insurance Ltd (QBE) announced that with effect from today, customers of Cathay Pacific (CX) and Dragonair (KA) will be given the opportunity to purchase international comprehensive travel insurance together with their flight on the internet booking engines respectively at www.cathaypacific.com.hk and www.dragonair.com.hk.

“We believe that in today’s travel environment, disruptions to travel plans are increasingly common and it is important that CX and KA customers are provided with the right protection against unexpected circumstances while they are travelling.” said Jecky Lui, General Manager of QBE.

This quick and efficient online travel solution will provide passengers with the opportunity to access instant cover and emergency assistance, giving them added protection during their travel to all international destinations.

“QBE is focused on providing added value services to CX and KA passengers and with this convenient service, we aim to be able to deliver peace of mind and financial protection all in one single transaction.” added Lui.

CX and KA passengers will also have access to the QBE Online Travel Self Service Portal which will allow them to manage their travel insurance policies. “Travellers will be able to view and amend their travel insurance policies through our portal which is accessible via the internet. This will give CX and KA customers easy access and convenience anytime, anywhere in the world.” said Lui.

QBE is introducing this service for outbound HK passengers for this pilot launch and will be announcing the commencement for the other CX and KA ports in the coming months.
